RFID & Microsensors
Enfucell’s patented SoftBattery™ technology is suitable for applications requiring low power in the range of 1 mW or below. Tags that are used for wireless communication (e.g. semi-passive RFID tags and microsensor patches or tags) are typical examples of disposable devices that require a small embedded power source.
The advantages of semi-passive, i.e. battery-assisted, RFID tags over passive tags are:
- longer reading distance
- higher reliability
- improved performance in challenging environments
Application areas for semi-passive RFID tags include:
- logistics
- access control
- asset control
There is emerging need for disposable, wireless sensor tags in e.g. healthcare and food industry. In healthcare the advantages of wireless tags are clear: Patient is able to move around while vital functions are being monitored, disposable patches are hygienic to use and personnel can concentrate on more meaningful work when e.g. patient’s body temperature monitoring can be automatized.
The lifespan of temperature sensitive products, such as blood, human organs, frozen food, fish and many others can be monitored using battery-assisted sensors to prove unbreakable cold chain. Enfucell is cooperating with application developers and component suppliers with wide concept. We offer application engineering services for those looking for a power source for disposable low power applications.
As a member of the RFID lab Finland, Enfucell is acting at the forefront of RFID technology.
