Antti Kivimaa and Juha Koskinen join Enfucell’s board

Enfucell strengthens its strategic know-how. Enfucell shareholders’ meeting has appointed Mr. Antti Kivimaa, CEO of Ruukki Group Plc, and Mr. Juha Koskinen, a management consultant, to join its Board of Directors. They join on the Board Dr. Jussi Suomela, Prof. Aarne Halme, and Dr. Xia-Chang Zhang, Enfucell’s Chief technology officer and the developer of the SoftBattery™, who are all founding members of Enfucell, Ltd.

“With Kivimaa and Koskinen, Enfucell gains strong international business and technology knowhow necessary to become a global firm”, says Enfucell Chairman Dr. Jussi Suomela.

Mr. Kivimaa has previously worked as Development Director of Sanoma Corporation, CEO of Startel Oy, CEO of Janton Plc, CEO of E. Ahlström and Senior VP at Sponsor Oy. Mr. Kivimaa has also served as Chairman of the Board of both Esmerk Group Oy and FIM Group Plc.

Mr. Koskinen has worked at Siemens Corporation from 1982 to 1999, serving also as CEO of ICET, a high speed train company belonging to the Siemens group. Before moving into management consulting he served as CEO of Sanmina Oy, a Finnish subsidiary of the international electronics supplier Sanmina, from 1999-2002.

Enfucell Oy

Enfucell Oy is a Finnish high tech company that has developed the SoftBattery™. The SoftBattery™ is a thin and flexible 1.5-volt environmentally friendly power source that can be utilized in disposable or short use products. The SoftBattery™ applications include the RFID/logistics, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.

Enfucell has received many international awards for the development of the SoftBattery. In January 2007 the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland selected Enfucell as one of the world’s 47 technology pioneers. Red Herring, a US high tech publication, named Enfucell as one of the promising European technology companies. In March 2007 the developer of the SoftBattery™, Dr. Xia-Chang Zhang was elected as one of the ten most influential foreign Chinese, by China’s largest media consortium led by Phoenix TV.

Enfucell was founded in 2002 and today has a staff of 15 people. In addition to private shareholders the company is ~16 percent owned by Vera Venture, a Finnish government backed seed funding company. The company is currently seeking additional equity for funding the further development of the SoftBattery™ and to develop its operations in the United States and China. Risto Huvila continues in his role as acting CEO.
